Meet Sheri

Sherilyn Thomson

Sherilyn holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology (with Distinction). She has practiced as a Psychologist for 15 years, in a range of Government and non-Government services. She has worked across the lifespan, with a particular interest in supporting children and young people, and their families. She believes that all people have the right to lead full and meaningful lives, however this looks for them; and that it is a privilege to be brought in to be a part of this journey for her clients.

Sherilyn enjoys providing assessments, including cognitive (IQ), learning, memory and developmental, with training in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She works with a wide range of presenting issues, such as mood disorders, anxiety, disordered eating/eating disorders (as part of a multidisciplinary team), adjustment and trauma-related difficulties, behavioural concerns in children, and support for parents/carers. She has been trained in numerous evidence-based interventions and utilises these in her practice. She strives to create a safe and collaborative environment, where people are able to reflect and move towards the change they desire.

Additionally, Sherilyn is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor, and is able to provide supervision to fellow Psychologists, and those in training.

Sherilyn is registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA), and holds endorsement in Clinical Psychology. Her registration number is PSY0001654071.

Sherilyn is committed to diversity and social inclusion: this includes Indigenous Australians, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well people with a disability.

Sherilyn is a Gunnedah local, having returned to the area after a number of years away studying and travelling. She has returned to the area with her young family, who she adores raising. Sherilyn also enjoys being active, theatre, live music and comedy shows.

Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.
